“Coquito in the Heights, or A Winter’s Scam,”

a short play when all the Fs to give closed extra early in anticipation of the holidays.

Scene: Washington Heights, Manhattan. A Liquor Brand Ambassador is giving out samples of different spirits to a customer who is on her way to a holiday party.

Customer: This is delightful! What did you say this was again? Co...

Liquor Brand Ambassador: Coquito. It’s my own special batch that I’ve made for years.

Me: Oh, hold up. You have coquito?! How much are you selling the bottles for?

LBA: $35.

Me (with my eyes only): 🤨. $35 American dollars? Bruh.

Customer: $35?! That’s not bad.

LBA: Oh, yes. A very good price. It’ll be the hit at your holiday party you were just talking about. (With his eyes to me: 😏)

Customer: I’ll actually take two. (Walks to register to check out.)

(Lights dim.)

Me (with my eyes to LBA): A true winter’s scam.

The end.
