“It Was a Nice Gesture," or "I'm not 30,”

a short play on a Sunday when all the F's to give slid out of the train car on the way to brunch.

Setting: N train. A couple is standing next to each other. The train begins to empty as it hits Times Square.

Man 1: Well, honey, I guess I can give this to you now. (Pulls out a greeting card out of his gym bag.)

Man 2: Oh, how sweet! (Begins reading card.) "Happy 30th...part 2 of 2?"

Man 1: Oh, s#^t! That's the wrong card. I actually got you two. I must have left the other one at home. I'll get it to you though.

Man 2: Umm, ok. Honey, you know I'm not 30, right? I'm actually 31.

Man 1: Oh, s#^t! Really?! Well, happy 30th...part 2?

Man 2: (Lights dim, as Man 2 is visually disappointed:) Well, it's was a nice gesture anyways.

The End.
